Neptune... Why? I don't really recognize the name, but the sound of it pisses me off...
— Arfoire

Template:Infobox character/Tab

Arfoire is a recurring antagonist in the the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. She represents piracy and is often depicted as a goddess throughout the series, though not all the time. Due to the Neptunia series being a game that revolves around different universes and dimensions, there are multiple Arfoire's throughout the series though most of them retain more or less the same personalities and core aspects regardless of the setting.

Variations

Main Series

1st Hyperdimension Arfoire

Main Article: Arfoire/1st Hyperdimension The Arfoire of this dimension was once the sole goddess of Gamindustri. However, no longer wanting to carry the burden of ruling an entire world on her own she created four new CPUs (Neptune, Noire, Vert, and Blanc) using the power of Histoire's tome so that they may rule in her place. She then passed down all of her knowledge and aspects of her personality to them.

This Arfoire is capable of shape-shifting and even stealing the powers of the other goddesses. Her signature outfit is her witch-like costume.

2nd Hyperdimension Arfoire

Main Article: Arfoire/2nd Hyperdimension The Arfoire of this dimension exists solely to destroy Gamindustri and she has no desires past that. She seems to have no physical form of her own and thus relies on vessels to contain her spirit.

Ultradimension

Main Article: Arfoire/Ultradimension This Arfoire is a member of the Seven Sages and simply wants to kill CPUs, similar to her 2nd Hyperdimension counterpart. Even though she had never met Neptune, she hated her instantly just from hearing her name. This is possibly because the Neptune of the other world hated Neptune just as much.

The Ultradimension Arfoire maintains the physical appearance of the 1st Hyperdimension Arfoire and seems to also have the ability to shape-shift like her though to a lesser extent, as seen when she takes on the form of DoS Arfoire from the 2nd Hyperdimension.

Etymology

Arfoire's English name comes from the piracy flash-cart, the R4. Her Japanese name, Magiquone, comes from "Magicon", a catch-all term in Japan for devices that let you run unofficial and/or pirated softwares/games on video game consoles. Originally came from the device named "Magic Computer" which is used to copy games for the Super Famicom (SNES).

Trivia

  • Arfoire is the only goddess who doesn't represent a console.
  • Arfoire is the only goddess who eyes doesn't contain the power symbol.
  • Arfoire has the ability to shape-shift herself into different forms as displayed mainly in Hyperdimension Neptunia, where she would change her form constantly to deceive people.
  • In a popularity poll, Arfoire came in 23rd place, just beating CFW Magic by 2 points.
