Combat Summary
Unlike the other main series games, Nepgear is a completely optional character, only becoming available at the final chapter. However, being optional, she starts off at level 1 but gets extremely potent gear to compensate, though having her leech some EXP from some standard level enemy encounters wouldn't hurt. Overall, Gear hasn't changed much, only really losing access to Superior Angels, the strongest of her skills which required all the Candidates and Friendship!!!, her best healing move. Speaking of the Candidates, since all of them are optional and require the remake system, it's impossible to unlock all of them in one playthrough. Also, this game brought back generic equipment for the HDD forms of CPUs, key word being CPUs. The Candidates do not have access to these generic equipment, only having what you have from the remake system and what they start with, leaving their HDD forms much less adaptable compared to the main CPUs. Overall, not much has changed with Gear, though a lot of her healing power had diminished from the loss of Friendship!!!. One thing to note though is that the remake system includes a feature to make all characters capable of breaking the damage limit. This means that once that option has been unlocked, Gear won't be needed to support with characters to unlock their full damage potential. This also means Nepgear is a more viable option for placing into the party, especially given that she deals good damage, heals, and can take a hit. Being able to play many roles is what makes Nepgear a great character, especially considering the fact that the battle party has been reduced to 3 members.
